Hello,
Just bought a standard 172 today and Ive a few questions about the cd multi-changer the alpine one.
This may sound stupid but bare with me.
How do you open the multi-changer?
Ive pressed the little green button and all it does is make a wurr noise.
Is that the eject button?
Or am I supposed to pull the black box thing out?
Also what type of alarm do these cars have fitted? Standard wise.
Mine has a signa security label on both rear side windows anyone heard of this?.
A couple more things, when idleing is the car supposed to sound lumpy?
The exhust or cat makes pinging clicking type sound when the engine switched off after Ive been out in it.
Theres also an annoying buzzing sound inside when the engines on.
Thanks for your help.

Idle is usually not very smooth.
Never had a changer I cant answer that.
Exhaust pinging is it colling down after being hot, its just the metal contracting.
Buzzing sound - cant help.
Alarm is usually Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser (unless import). Test by setting and then use the key to unlock a door and open. Should hear loud whirring sound.

Cheers.
Must only be french cars that ping click when exhaust cooling down then.
Would love an answer to the multi-changer problem though.
Only '53' plates have cruise control etc as standard then?

Nope

Yes, usually. Mine lumps and burbles and pup-pup-pups!

Cooling down, steel/ metal components contracting

Its next to the interior light. It's the internal temperature sensor for the aircon, sometimes the fan needs replacing, cheap job...don't worry unduly about it, mines the same.

Enjoy!

Yep to a degree yes its due to the engine charecteristics shouldn't be anyhting to worry about.

You may have 2 discs loaded together and jammed in the changer, or a badly distorted disc that wont go back into the cassette. Not uncommon this.

Find a long thin piece of plastic, like a ruler and push it gently under the cartridge from right to left, you should find it will pop out. If not, remove the CD changer and disassemble it carefully to release the jammed discs.

If the Sigma alarm was fitted by Renault as an accessory, it will be a Cat.2 to 1 upgrade, but you may need the installation certificate for your insurers.

Your whirring fan on the aircon, can be cleaned with an airline sometimes, depends how much dust and cigarrette tar it has sucked in.

Thanks to all who posted.
Found out the buzzing noise inside the car is coming from the little speaker by the interior lights.
Only happens when ignition switched on. Any ideas?
Thanks
