I'm reluctantly having to sell my pride and joy Focus St-2 due to my wife needing a Larger Car and the every increasing costs of keeping it on the road as a family car.
I've been looking around the smaller hot hatches and don't want a Corsa VXR to common in my opinion and don't like the styling of the Fiesta ST. I am however quite keen on the Cilosport 197 in Cup or F1 editions, granted I have very little knowledge so I was hoping a few of you maybe able to help.
My budget is around 8k maybe a little more depending on what I get for the ST, I just want the Cilo as a run around, to do the short blast to work every morning really, what should I be looking out for, I've seen a few mentions on here of the Brakes need an annual service, not just checking for wear, and that the gearbox on pre 08 plates is a little fragile.
Can anyone else shed any light on what to look out for when buying and what they are like to live with, I feel it maybe a bit of a come down for me, as the ST is a pleasure to live with everyday as it is quick, the ride is quite smooth and it has room in the back and the boot, at over 6ft I'm guessing there won't be a lot of room behind me.
However I'm hoping the fact it is a 2 litre and a lot smaller and lighter than my current car will make up in some ways, also I would if poss like the rear spoiler and privacy glass, are they fitted as standard on any models or are they both just optional extras.
