New office updates...

Hi wondering if anyone else has this problem or knows the solution...

Ran auto updates on windows on my laptop and it installed some new patches for office 2003 - now can't open any of the applications - tried running repair and it didn't work, also tried uninstalling but couldn't even do that... Also trying to go back to a pre update system restore wasn't allowed!

just get some message like the operating system is not configured to run this application!

Try rebooting the machine.

Boot the machine into safe mode and then try uninstalling Office.

If in doubt...delete it

Can i mess anything else up if i go into safe mode deleting? Not an idiot with computers but if it's tricky probably not worth the risk - just don't understand why i can't re run the set up disk either - damn computers!
