new pics, new car, need help!

  clio mk1
hi all, spent 3 hours cleaning my car today in the sun! and the rust on the arches just ruins the whole car really! anyway Ive posted some pics ofit and also the rear arch.

The heater doesnt work in the car on any setting and I checked the fuse and its not blown so I wondered what else it could be? anyway Im hoping to get the arches sorted out this week :p

Thanks all

I see what u mean now fella, is a bit of a killer that rust. Shouldnt be too bad to sort out tbh. u could easily rub it all down an prime it urself to save on the cost of spraying. Part from that the motor looks crackin

  clio mk1
yeah man, Ive had a quote of £120 for both arches sprayed and filled and he said if i was to do the prep work myself it would be still £100 for the spraying so he said I may aswell leave it for them to do...

I was wondering if you had any idea on how I could get the heater working? it doesnt work on any setting and ive checked fuses maybe a loose connection or something? cheers mate

Aint to sure tbh wit ya pal, myne only works on 1 and 2 but put it on the highest setting an it just goes off. Mite be a loose connection on the back of the switch but apart from that i aint got a clue tbh. Sorry pal, mayb someone else will be along soon who mite be able to help us both lol

Thats a crackin price, if it was me id save the £20 an do the prep meself but thats just cause i like having a play with things and learning new stuff, tis up to u though pal. Decent price though

with the heater under the scuttle panel have a look at the plug going into the motor. same happend with mine and it turn out the prongs in the plug had flared open and just needed closing up abit.

  Whichever has fuel
Rear arches should cost around £200 to sort both of them.

Cut out old rot, weld in new plates, and respray.

PM 'midge' off here. His mate did his for 200 sheets and did a top job.

yeah I mean to do it with metal would be alot better then filler tbh but Im just too srapped for cash, im also wanting to spend a bit on the clio to get her back to how she should be... nothing actually wrong with it but i feel there will be soon! and also I wanted to ask.... is it normal for a 1.8 16v mk1 clio to get soo hot after the engine has only been run for like 25mins? I opend the bonnet and it was mafting! i mean there is water and everything in but it just seemed really warm it was warming my face up just looking at it! cheers all

dunno pal, u checked that the fans working?? my old mk1 used to get really hot really quickly and stay like that for ages but my new one rarely even goes past a quarter on the engine temp gauge. My old one used to sit at 3/4.

yep gotta just sit and wait pal, best way is to take it for a blast for 5 mins an warm the enging up, then just sit an let it idle an watch. Ull hear it kick in if it does come on

taking it tomorow to get a full service from this french mechanic i know who gets alot of good feedback around here.... £150 is going to get me a full service with oil change the lot,

One thing that is annoying me is the clutch being to tight... you need a very strong foot just to put the clutch down, its just too tight really and starts to hurt the heel of your foot after a big drive, anyone know how i can loosen it? if not ill just get them to do it at the garage tomorow, cheers all
