New Rattle

My car makes a rattley sound when its just tickin over that gos when you put the clutch down but comes back when you let it off. Its not very loud, just doesnt sound nice!

Anyone know what this is? My mate said it could be the thrust bearing or siummit. Is he sound right and how much is it gunna set me back?

He could be right, the clutch thrust bearing is the one that slides along the gearbox input shaft so you can release the clutch spring. If its gone I suppose it could rattle - not idea how much it would cost to replace though. Jay?

my old peugoet 106 did exactly the same thing,sumtimes the noise would go for a while and then it would come back again.the only way to stop it was to put my clutch down,made the car sound like a diesel thow!

most likely to be the clutch thrust bearing but chatters can also be caused by worn shaft bearings but that is rare and a worst case scenario anyway.
