New Seats in now the airbag light is on

Ive run a search on this problem but cant find the same problem.

I recently bought a 172 interior from another forum user who had written off his car. Ive fitted it all and im really pleased with the look of it but the SERV and the airbag lights are now on. They come on as normal when starting go off then after about 5 seconds come back on and wont go off.

Is it possible that it is just a lose connection or will I need to get the pre tensioners reset/replaced. If so how much do you think itll cost.

check the connections are the same....maybe down to that.

Make sure the pre-tensioners in the seats you have fitted have not deployed.

If they have you may need to replace them.

I know a way of fooling the airbag computer if they have and moneys tight, you just need a resitor from maplin But would not recommend it, but it does work a treat

How do you check to see if they have deployed?

Part numbers for a mk2 172 seat belt pre-tensioners are as follows

82 00 057 161 price of 77.23 plus vat

82 00 057 159 price of 77.23 plus vat

have a look at the seat belt buckle, is it hard up against the base of the seat, in other words pulled down as far as it goes to the base of the seat.

then it is its deployed.

if there is some clearance from the base to the buckle then its ok

Cheers Mike Ill check tommorrow. Still got the old seats to compare it to. BTW they are MK1 seats if that makes a diffrence to the part numbers.
