as above had new thermostat.coolant and thought that would sort problem, had cts fitted 3 months ago car will still not get up to middle on temp gauge help please
hi Mick garage fitted it along with new pump, coolant etc was a new renault stat the cts sensor was euro parts so maybe its a crap sensor, the car has been like this previously engine lacks power until driving for ages lol
Well there's only one way to tell and that's to test the lot. I always test my thermostats now before they go in to stock as I've had a few from Renault not open or seal closed correctly.
Type-D isn't expensive but it's the customer having to return unhappy I don't like.
thanks i popped up garage euro car parts is going to give me a new sensor they checked the stat in garage so it must be a new dodgy sensor cant see what else it can be the heater works but its not red hot and the fan takes long time to cut in
thanks for the replies, getting a new cts tomz renault one ive left car idle on the drive the gauge goes to 4 bars thats it,the rad hose is very warm but the one that goes into the front of the expansion tank is not very warm peeing me off now this cup bloody nightmare, can this affect the performance Mick cause it seems lumpy and spluttery lol
Yeah, the CTS data stream is a very important baseline which the ECU uses to determine how the engine will run. It can cause over fuelling and misfires along with some other nasty things on turbocharged vehicles.
If it's hitting the half way mark when stood but dropping when driving it's almost certainly a poor stat imo
i never even hear the fan cutting in in traffic very odd,sat on drive it eventually comes on,bleeding potluck these cars wish i was closer to a specialist
thanks again maybe for the cost of them checking i could just buy another sensor i have another stat aswell but its a euro car parts one so might swap the renault one and sensor its in garage thursday so i will post update,if no change match and a clio bonfire i think
When it comes to stats and sensors you really should stick with genuine parts. I personally won't use anything but genuine parts because every time I've used something else it's bitten me in the ass.
ouch yes that bleeding new stat was from renault cardiff bought last week lol, thats why im thinking it should be ok the cts was 20 quid from ecp,i changed the cts in may as the car wasnt starting when hot,but i also changed the battery and wollah all sorted now thinking maybe the battery was the cause and i bought a new duff shi**y ecparts sensor Mick
Mick hi got new cts from renault will be fitted tomz, the car is lacking in performance and car is only on 32k,can the low temp issue make car less powerful it feels like its running lean
looking through these posts and spotting things like,
1 - the heating not being red hot
2 - one pipe hot the other pipe not so hot
that would lead me to suggest there is an airlock within the cooling system.
I would run the car for a while till it heats up and check how hot all the cooling pipes are. if there are any that are noticably colder than others this would suggest air in the system.
