New to Cliosport, with a new car!

  2008 Albi 197
Hi all!

So, I'm new to the forums and have already found it to be one of the best places for info on the clio. This is now my third one, my first car was an M reg Mk1 1.2 Be Bop, second was a 2002 1.6 Dynamique + ;

and then about 2 weeks ago I decided to go for a Mk3. I'd never really been a fan of the new shape but then I saw this one and after test driving it my opinion totally changed. I went for a 2006 1.6 Dynamique S with 13k on the clock:

I do want to make a few changes to the car, after the warranty has come to an next year, the first noticable thing about this car is how high it sits, so I definately want to get it lowered at some point, but I don't even know where to start with choosing the right springs or going for coilovers?

Thanks guys

so how does your new 1.6 compare to the old one?

It's not quite as nippy as the last one, probably due to the extra weight, but its much more comfortable to drive and the gear changes are a lot smoother.

Should I post in the relevant part of the forum about particular mods rather than asking in this one?

Looks nice, Im slowly coming round to the new shape tbh. Slowly being the operative word lol

And you are ok in this section for opinions of forthcoming mods :)

Welcome to cs

Thanks again for all the replies, certainly know how to make someone feel welcome!

Nice stuff ;) Fiesta looks the nuts!

You go through cars quickly :D

The Fiesta is my girlfriends car, its the ST. Unfortunately, being male, I can't afford the insurance on anything more than a 1.6 at the min but this will do me for now!

I quite like the two bolards (sp?) you have on your drive.

I took the pics at my girlfriends house and the reason they decided to have the 3 bollards put in is because of these on the drive lol:

Someone was seen on the drive during one night snooping around the cars so they thought it would be a good idea!

As for mods for the Mk3's, things seem to be pretty scarce at the moment, anybody know of good places to look? I'd like to get the Renault spoiler and some lowering springs first of all I think...

Yea thats one of the issues I have, there's not a huge amount of room as it is, I'll have to park over them and check the gap at some point.

As for coilovers, that's not really an option for me at the moment due to the cost of them but I'm really confused about how much to lower it on springs. I've read most of the existing threads on here and some say going lower than 40 - 45mm on springs is a no no with standard shocks, others have had no problems.

I just want to minimise that huge gap in the archesas much as I safely can with springs. Is it worth starting a thread on the Suspension forum?

Yea I'm from Burntwood, although not there all that much really. Couldn't shift the car on PH so ended up just part exing at the dealer, didn't get as much as I hope but not to worry

Where would I get a shock set from anyway?
