new to this members site. Son just aquired 182 are require advice

  Jaguar XF
Gentlemen thanks for letting me join this forum. My son has just on bought a 182 and we are busy making it nice. Looked for information and this site kept coming up so just had to join so we can use the knowledge base. The car is an 05 with 50k miles. Timing belt not changed yet. Should we get it done now or wait a bit until he's saved up some more cash?

If it hasn't been done (every 72k miles or 5 years, which ever comes first), get it done ASAP.

it's 2 years overdue, and the aux belt is 14k and 2 years overdue.

As above. It really isn't worth the risk in chancing it. Just make sure you use a specialist garage.

And by specialist, I don't mean a main dealer.

Cphil, there are numerous threads on timing belts on the F4r engine.

There is even a guy on here (Hi fred!) that says working on a Gallardo is easier!!

So please make sure its done at a reputable F4R specialist.

Welcome to the club. :)

Welcome to the site Cphil.
Just to follow with what everyone else above says, belts are due to be changed now. It's not a job for any old garage due to the set up. There is a list of registered/ recommend garages on here. Where abouts are you based?

Off the top of my head Fred at BTM Performance is based in Birmingham. Don't know if any of the other specialists are closer.
