New tyres and brakes - what and where to buy?

  Black Ph2 172
Hi guys,

I need new tyres and brakes and am looking for some advice of what to buy and where to buy them from.

I need two new front tyres, front discs and pads and rear pads. I look forward to hearing your thoughts :) - am looking to buy ASAP!!

Cheers,

Andy

Just had 4 195/45/16 PE2's fully fitted for £86 a corner, also includes a £40 fuel voucher.

Local ATS sorted me out!

if you know somewhere so get the tyres fitted then go to camskill.co.uk they are the cheapest place i've ever been for tyres and the delivery time is pretty good to you just got to get them fitted and balenced yourself thats the catch

Thanks guys - appreciate it. Will Kwik Fit fit other people's tyres?Anybody else got any suggestions?

don't go near kwikfit - they either put directional tyres on the wrong way around, not tighten wheel nuts up properly or damage at least one wheel - or all of the above

Brembo HC's or Max Grooved and Mintex 1144 Pads.

Got my pads and hoses from KamRacing and my Max Grooved Brembo's from eBay £102 the discs were.

Conti sport contacts were best when I had a 172 cup, but Im a believer of having all 4 the same so depends what ya got on the back.

Thinking of going for Brembo HC discs and Ferodo pads - is this a good set up? Will I notice a difference from std?

I've heard good things. Careful of the brake dust though. Also you need to file down the side of the pads a little IIRC.

Yeah had that setup on my 182, awesome, would definitely recommend it!! Get some braided brake lines as well

I have this setup. Terrific stopping power on track and still fine for the road - mine don't squeal or anything like that and the dust is no worse than OE ones, IMO. If you track the car, pads will last 3 or 4 trackdays before needing replacing. Discs should be good for 2 sets of pads. Braided lines are not essential though.

Brakes as suggested, brembo and ferodo. Tyres, I went for hankook evo v12. Relatively new tyre, getting very good reviews in Germany and the US. Very happy with them, if they were the same cost I would pick them over pirelli, Goodyear f1, Michelin pe2 (all of which I've run). That they are £50 a corner from camskill makes them even better!

I was going to upgrade my pads and disks but decided not to and save money for remap. so instead i got braided brake lines from kam racing which are doing a group buy at the mo and got my self dot 4 castrol brake fluid. shud notice a difference with out spending too much plus i dont do track days
