Hi all

Ive joined this forum as i am hoping to get a clio within the next month,

i will be pestering and probably bringing up old threads to understand how to do things to the car

i have owned rover metros and r100s for 5 yrs and finally have decided its time to step up and get a decent car, or at least i hope

what i would like to know is

is the 1.4 16v option the bst for insurance and performance and MPG

Also do these cars have any tell tales problem, i.e. rover suffer from Head failure. are clios the same or is there one thing that usually occurs

For performance and MPG go for a 172! lol Youll only end up ragging a 1.4 which will give you worse fuel eco!

whats a 172 grp insurance as i have 6 points, had a qoute of £600 for a 1,4 16v and £500 for a 1.2



1.2 is a 3 i think and 1.4 16v was a 5

I cant comment on the older gens but most new renaults come with lots of niggley things, if for no other reason go for a 172 cos it dont have a sun roof, mines like a babys toy for noise. Welcome onboard MHS Cliosport

oh dear u guys are actually putting me off, my mom has a y reg clio she has had no probs what so ever which is why i wouldnt mind one, but i want a 3 dr and slighty moe punchier model,



apart from niggles etc do they suffer from anything major?

Its nothing serious, all part an parcel, put it this way after this Clio I have I wont be put off, I would still own another.

Gregga i cant comment on anything other than my 182 but i have had it since March and would buy another tomorrow.Hardly any problems at all and if i have had any the dealership was brilliant.

Didnt mean to scare you sorry but this is a forum and not somewhere where people tend to do posts saying how they have not had problems !!

You could do a lot worse than get into a Clio

well like i say mom has one mate has one and they have never had any probs

i can live with little probs, cant be as bad as my car now thats for sure



in anyones opinion, what 1.4 16v model is best top get, i have around £3k to spend, sport or an alize - suggestions please

Ive got a Y Reg 1.4 16V clio and Ive havent had any problems really, had a problem where it wouldnt start but that was because there was a dead cell in the battery which replacing the battery was fine.
