Newbie from Sussex.

Hello people,

My name is Joe and I'm from Sussex. I currently own a Punto GT but am looking to get a Clio sport!.

I joined the forum to find out some info about these motors. After 4 years of owning Punto GT's I'm ready to move on to something that can go round corners. lol :lolup:

I might of come but I'm having problems with my car at the moment. Puts a hole in the o zone layer every time I start it up. haha. I'll see what date the meet is and we shall see. Would like to see some of the clios though.

I'm hoping to get a 182 if I can afford it. Dont know what phase as I dont know much about clios. But I've been looking at a 2004 182 and thats the shape I like.

There's only one phase of 182 buddy

If you find one you like, post the advert on the forums and people will help you out.

What do you want fromm the car? Fun drive? Gadgets? speed?

And what's your budget?

My Mate has a 172.. Blue.. Mint condition.. 3k!

a bit of everything to be honest, love the power of my punto, thats pushing out 176bhp but i want somethin that handles well and has some gadgets like climate control etc, i'm looking at spending about 3-4k. I prefer the rear of the 182. Also i'd like to find a standard one rather than modded

For that budget, buy a phase 2 172 and get a 182 exhaust for it. They're incredibly similar to the 182. (anyone tell me what the differences are, if any?)
But most importantly, they're alot better value for money.

Quite a job to get a 182 exhaust on a 172 cause of the spare wheel well, not unless it is a 182 look a like exhaust....

to be honest the only reason i prefer the 182 is because of the sportier rear, is there any other differences?

woo I'm now a paying member! Lol.

I've been browsing various threads and how to guides. Some really helpful information there. Which is good because I'm quiet handy on the spanners and do most of the maintanence myself.

Lots of helpful info about different models etc.

I now know what I'm looking for. A full fat 182 with cup extras. And all being well, I'll be buying one just after christmas. Looking forward to it!

The rear of the 182 is the same as the 172 except the exhaust matey. They're pretty much identical other than that.

I've just got a 2004 182 FF with cup packs for £4700 and I love it. Much prefer the look of the 182 rear with the twin pipes and it's also one of the reasons we get the extra 10bhp.

Yellow punto? No mines blue, i'm surprised how many people are local to me on here. When i was on punto sports there was hardly anyone local to me on there.

What part of Bognor are you in ??? I did live at the back of boots . Think i have seen one in blue with a center exhaust is that your one ?

Yeah that would be the one. I live in middleton but when i go into town i try and park at the back of boots. You probably heard it before you saw it lol. Getting a bit long in the tooth for stupidly loud exhausts now lol.

Yeah think i was behind you the other day coming from Littlehampton in to Felpham it did sound a bit sick lol

Nice, I like the coupes. Awesome car. I usually do the bognor to littlehampton route as most of my work is there. But I cant say I've seen you and I'd definatly notice a coupe.

Lol thanks for the heads up. But to be fair a bus would be an upgrade in handling to me, coming from a punto lol. I'm still not convinced though. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of handling for some 'creature comforts' and have an all round good car.

That's fair enough mate. See what you think of it if you come to a meet. It doesn't have the gadgets, but my other car is packed full of gadgets and I honestly never use them. I only use the air con to clear the windscreen cos it's a tiny bit quicker. Each to their own though. Just bare in mind that the 182 won't hold it's value like the cup, if that's a consideration.

Try and get down to the meet on Sunday if you can... There'll hopefully be a good variety of cars for you to look at.

How comes they dont hold their value as much?.

I wouldnt say either really hold there value that well tbh... my other halfs 172 cup is prob worth less than my 182, but my 182 is two years newer, but if its a car you want value doesnt really matter... I hardly use my air con or cruise control but I prefered the 182 over the 172, personal preference at the end of the day
