Hello all! my GF and i have looked at a black 2002 172. shes paying!!

im driving it too! Hopefully picking it up tomorrow!

seems to be in good working order 41k on clock anything in particular i/we should look at? what are the most common faults on these motors?

Most commen problems - Failed exhausts, Leaky front washer jets, Split Steering wheel thumb grips, leaking rear shocks.

oh..no pics just the smileys i dragged on havent worked. thanks for the advice ill give them a good scan tomorrow before handing over the cash! 5,800 sound fair? i think its ok few chips, scratches as you would find on a 4yr old car i guess! ill get pics up if we buy it. also..any advisable mods at all? not into styling as such noooo chavvyness!

Depends hwo much you want to spend.
Leda coilovers/H and R etc are good but pricy.
Engine wise most stuff costs a lot best value ones on a 172 are a decat a remap manifold modification and air filter. Then some decient pads

Personaly in my situation and i do track days I think better tyres (slicks) and some brakes pads are all I'd do.

thanks for all the good, helpful resonses! i already have my track car *cough saxo cough* sounds like the usual tuning mods then! the only problem is..ill have to sneak them on to the car without the other half knowing! never know!! she may get the tuning bug like i have! bless her she's going form a Ford Ka 1.3 to this cant wait to see her smile when she gives a bit of right boot!
