Make sure cambelt change done every 5 years / 60k miles without fail

Try and find one an enthusiast has owned and hopefully they will have done all the preventive maintenance! not just basic servicing. Also worth getting inspected, Birchdown autos aren't that far from you (only decent specialist up here)
if you can get one that has had belt change by reputable specialist will save you a fair bit.

Only problem with entheusiasts is that they tend to think that their aging french hatchback is worth its weight in platinum.
