Newbie Leeds

  Clio 172
Hello

its great to say I'm now the proud owner of a clio 172. After years of owning vans when working for myself, I've now been able to rewind the years and purchase a hot hatch!! Really good value as well £700 for a 2001 Y clio 172, I just couldn't resist. The body work is immaculate, the engine and gearbox feels really good, and its grippy and quick. I've also noticed its not too bad on fuel. A few things I would be thankful for if any one on the forum could help me with........

1) anyone recommend an independent Renault Motorsport mechanic in Leeds or West Yorks?
2) anyone recommend performance tuning renault specialist in west yorks?
3) the front brake pads need replacing. Can anyone recommend any?

ive also noticed a few things not working with the electrics. The windscreen washers don't work, and neither does the central locking or the door mirrors. Fuse is missing for the washers but there doesn't seem to be a circuit wired to that fuse as it should be for the washers???

Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated............. Happy Christmas!!!

Welcome :) Always good to have more local people!

RS-Tuning in Leeds are the two I would suggest for 1 + 2. They know there way round the clio's very well and also offer various tuning upgrades from a custom remap to a turbo or supercharger conversion. Have a look in the trader section on here for more details about them or have a quick google.

I presume if you're asking for a motorsport mechanic this car is going on track? Let us know what you are using it for and i'm sure someone will suggest the best pads.

Electrics I don't have a clue, Sorry!

Hi

no it's not going on track, just want some pads just above average say, good value for money!

also I think I'm going to change the lambada sensor, is this a big job?

ive got an issue with the trip meter on the dash, can't seem to get it to display, will have to do some research.

Live seen RS tuning, there not far from me which is a bonus!!!

Everyone on here raves about the Ferodo DS2500's and they would fit the bill okay. I'm not a fan personally.

No its a very easy job, Unscrew old one and disconnect and repeat with new one :)

Welcome mate

As said RS Tuning or RS Murray (RS tuning dads garage) in Leeds know these cars well. They could sort your electrical issues out for you I'm sure.

I can help you out with brakes if you need as well

cheers pal, thanks for the info. think i will do the front pads in the new year, not sure if discs need changing as well?

Hi mate, nice to have another local join up. Mines been into RS Murray for Aux and service recently, no complaints. No idea about electrics but you will most likely find the answer on here, i'd get signed up with full membership if you haven't already and you will be able to access the guides section etc.

No worries mate.

Depends on condition of existing discs and if they've much meat left on them? But its good practice to change discs and pad together.

Thanks. The car has quite a bit of history, so I will have a look and see if I can find out when they were last done.
It stops on a sixpence at the minute though, really impressed. Just discovered it has a pipercriss induction kit and a scorpion exhaust, so along with the history it has had a lot of money spent on it. I had the ecu read and it was coming up with a lambda fault, so was going to change that.
