newbie question advice needed on clio sport

  clio sport 2003
hello all
just come across this site so here goes
currently have a 2003 astra 2.2 sri fairly modified, lowered etc and have been offered a 46000 mile 2003 clio sport as a straight swap, drives real well with fsh and all usual extras inc lowered 30mm and multispoke renault alloys, car in excellent condition
whats all your opinions on this deal out of interest and are there any points i could look out for on the clio when i take another look
thanks
tilly

Do you know roughly how much your Astra is worth? I'd have thought it was worth more than the Clio, could be wrong though but if I'm correct surely abit of cash your way as well as the Clio would be a fairer deal?

i would say the astra is worth 2600 - 3000 at the most as theres a few digs here and there, the clio is exceptional though and looking around they seem to be about the 3700 mark really, just a bit nervous about going renault lol
no pics yet sorry

Best car I have ever owned m8, that age the car should have had it cam and aux belt done about a year ago and is roughly a £500 job. Had mine a year now and apart from breakpads, tyres and havng to do the cam mine hasn`t cost me a bean extra. 2004 plate 46k miles. Oh exhaust can and do go bad very quickly so have a good look at the back box!

had a new backbox 6mths ago, that seem expensive for cambelt change was it main dealer price as ive got a guy that does my work in a local garage

It's hit and miss with these really. You'll either get one and have very little problems with it or you'll end up with one that spends most of time in a garage.

As said, any used car buying is a lottery no matter what it is.

If its been cherished and well maintained it should cause you no problems. Make sure all the servce intervals correspond with appropriate stamps.
