newbie question

  F4R'd ITB'd '92 cup racer
has anyone got a pic of the cable throttle setup and the fly by wire setup on a 172? so i can see the visible differences

also what year did it change from cable to f-b-w?

i am looking at putting a 172 engine in a 16v as a weekend/track day car so any information would be great :D and anything i will need apart from engine/box/loom? will i need 172 rad etc? will the 172 engine mounts bolt onto the 16v chassis in the correct place or will they need modifying?

so many questions

thanks in advance

The phase 2 cars (all of the ie Cup etc) have the electric throttl bodies

Do a search for the pics.

Why not do the better idea of sung a Williams/megana bottom end and either a William or a valver or portered (williams or valver) head?

Do a search someone on here posted pics of his mates conversion reciently for ideas etc.

Need to remove the air con and dependinging them how your going about the setup how you need to do the conversion.

cheers for the info edde

i think i have found some pics of the fbw throttle, basically the noticeable difference is no cable  and a small black box on the front of the butterfly housing, i am assuming that swopping a fbw inlet for a cable inlet is a no no? sounds too simple to work lol

i have toyed with the idea of using a williams or valver engine but i really want to leave the engine standard (ie no messing with internals or getting heads polished etc) so i have decided on the 172 lump for availability and standard power (im not after breaking the sound barrier or getting as much bhp as possible, i just want a fun car that has some grunt without costing me a fortune)

i have read that thread of the lad who has done the conversion (infact i have read it about 10 times over  )

am i right in thinking i can use the 16v radiator/driveshafts etc or am i better using everything from the 172?

thanks again
