NEWBIE - Water Issues - Footwells - Clio DCi

  Renault Clio DCI 65
Hi all,
Firstly... I'm a newbie! I drive a 2002 Clio DCi 65 for commuting to and from work.
I have a small amount of water (damp to touch) on the passenger side footwell carpet and under the passenger seat.
The water starts where you would put your feet and only goes back as far as the tray under the passenger seat. The footwell right under the dash is dry to touch. I have had the sunroof professionally removed, resealed etc ( proper job / completely out etc / no leaks or marks on the headlining or dripping )
What could it be?

Wipers off, scuttle plastic off. You'll know its blocked when you poor water into it and it doesn't drain away quickly

Edit: Thinking about it, you may not need to remove the plastic. I've never done this myself, I just plan to soon as my footwell was soaked a while ago due to my sunroof leaking.

I guarantee this is the sunroof leaking. I've posted on this before somewhere.

The sunroof since having it repaired professionally has shown no signs of leaking and the wet marks on the headlining have disappeared. Could be the aerial base at the rear?

Have you tried the scuttle?

My bet is the sunroof personally.

Either way, it will be one of those.

100% not the sunroof. This did leak ( usual wet marks in the corner of the headlining ) this has now been fixed by a sunroof specialist and hasn't leaked since with no wet patches. It must be the scuttle then. I wish i knew what i was looking for!

This happened to me on my 182 and it was a rubber door seal overlapping wrongly, my memory deserts me as to how and where but check all the door seal is seated properly........

Really? What the seal that is joined on the sill when you open the door? The one you can just lift/pull off? Mine is overlapping!!!!!!!

I really have a vague vision of what it was..... but it was top of the door, near the windscreen area, the rubber somehow tucked in a position where any rain just flooded my footwell about where the seat runners start.... everyone suggested scuttle but I checked and it wasn't......

Oh my god this could be exactly the problem. Thanks so much for this mate. I will make sure the seals correctly in place in the morning. Legend.

Right ok! Where the windscreen starts up the top there is a rubber flap that runs down the side of the windscreen behind the door rubber...mine somehow overlapped the door rubber and let any rain even light rain trickle in and around the door to the centre of the footwell. .... it may be the case with yours and if so just relocate it behind your door rubber and job done....! I hope its the case for you, easy fix!

Any luck?!
Well. I had a check, no seals seem to be out of place. I check where you said, and re-fitted the door seal making it as tight as possible and line up perfectly.
Since then, we have had rain, and i haven't had any water get into the cabin. So... i think its sorted!

Definitely sorted. Absolutely dry. Thanks all for your help. Cheers Gaz!

Excellent news! I know exactly how you felt, it took me ages to work out what the hell was wrong with mine after checking scuttle etc.... water issues can be an absolute nightmare to solve! How the water was getting in mine was hard to believe....it travelled half the bottom of the door length before entering my footwell, amazing! And so satisfying to solve it!
