Newcastle specialist - 172 cambelt check/replacement.

Hi There, my first post on the forum!

I have recently purchased a 172 sport, the previous owner stated that she had the cambelt changed last April (with all tensioners etc) and the car had never ran the same since. On tick over it is a bit lumpy and hunts, also it doesn't really pull cleanly through the rev range and isn't as powerful as I was expecting.

I am convinced that the cam timing is out, she took it to a 'non-specialist' garage who I presume won't of had all the correct tools etc (I have just read all the horror story threads on here about this!).

Anyways I am looking to locate a garage in the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne area that has all the correct tools and knowledge to check the timing and rectify if required. I have searched the web and located a few possibilities but would much rather go by personal recommendation if someone knows of a good place.

i was thinking that bit of a trek. Is there not anywhere nearer. I'm in need of mine doing. Well need to check with garage i bought it off as not sure as can't see it recorded in service book. Is there anyway of checking?

Theres a place nezt to the arena called tsw barker or something like that who are renault specialists garage, gave me a decent quote before but tbh i thonk im jus guna have a drive down the country a couple hours to make sure a good job is done
