Most things that I want to download from newsgroup are quite old, and none of these will download just comes up with an error in my newsreader.

all the new stuff downloads fine, its just files that are past so many days old, anyone finding this and is there a way around it? seems pretty pants considering i'm paying for it. Downloading via newsbin.

That'll be retention. (or possibly completion, the files might not have made it to your usenet server)

Who did you sign up with? How old exactly are the files you're trying to download?

You're usenet provider will state what their retention is.

Easynews is 50 days. I wouldn't bother with any other usenet provider, I've been with them for nearly 7 years continuously!

newsdemon is 110 days.

i am with a company called astraweb, i have been with them for years and never had a problem with them. they have 120 days retention. i have no need for ssl, and their unlimited package is only $15 a month, so never more than about £8.

I had an account with astraweb as well, I'd recommend them as well.

I just find downloading NNTP headers very dull and wasteful, hence why I use easynews. No need for newzbin either because they have an uber-impressive search engine.

i use a combination of nzbs.org, nzbsrus.com, and newsleecher with supersearch.
