  Golf 7.5R & Clio 200
I'm in no way a detailed, I just like a shiny clean car.

My wash consists of;

Pre-rinse
Jet Wash blast
Wash
Rinse
Dry
Polish
Wax

Using the 2 bucket method also. I must admit, I just don't understand what to do with Clay, so have never bothered.

What would you suggest I could do to get that slightly better finish?

firstly what do you regard as polishing? what do you use?

secondly, a lot of the look comes from the prep, and the most simple will be decontaminating. this being tar removal which is thrown up the car from tires and cars ahead, iron removal from brake dust, parking near metal work or railways etc, and claying for bonded contaminants such as tree sap, aphid droppings. these stages come after washing, and will require further rinsing before going any further.

there is little point in trying to fully explain claying other than you use a clay bar, with a lubricant, liberally lube up an area and rub the clay gently across the panel removing all the tiny little bits you won't actually see on the paint, but will be robbing it of its colour. read through this and check you tube for video demonstrations

doing this will bring a lot of life back into the colour as it won't be hidden by deep embedded dirt.
