Love the 20vt but ibizas are datiing

I just bought a mini cooper s - not turbo charged, but the supercharger is addictive and it's easily tuneable up to about 220bhp from what I've read with supercharger pulley/intercooler/cam/remap.

If insurance is an issue then the Petrol Ibiza Cupra from 00-02 is the best shaped one (imo), and is only froup 15 insurance, and the mini cooper s is also group 15 insurance.

Most other turbos are higher then that....but the Clio you have is already group 16 I think.

I had a Leon Cupra R at 19...reasonable insurance too (although I do live in a low risk area). Sold mine last year for £9k so its within your budget and if you aready have a 182 the Cupra R should be simular!



Highly recommend the Cupra, if you want that turbo feel get it and you will not be disappointed. Way different to the 182, much faster in gear, not as many toys but better build quality.

u wont get anything performance turbo wise not at 19, i was gonna say supra/rx7/200sx but at 19.... u might get a 200 i had my first one at 19... but dont expect it to be cheap...

I love the RS but 3 mates of mine have got them lol. one being 340bhp, iv drove it and i think i prefer smoother boost delivery..... like the 20vt but dont know which 20vt i like more... something of an upgrade to the 182 (unlike the ibiza mk3)

mate tbh if i was you i would stay with the 182 a bit longer, unless you have some issues with your car itself, the 182 is an awesome car, even if you wait untill your 20 you will be able to get alot more for your money

someone smashed into it 4 months ago tho and its being repaired as we speak... long storry why its taking ages... iv always wanted turbo... and i know my car wont feel the same when it comes back i love my 182

A mate of mine has just bought an ibiza cupra mk3, hes 19 i think, insurance was going to be 2.5k, however as it modified (turbo etc 230bhp) insurers won't touch him on it untill next year.

mate your car will feel the same, if anything you will feel different, i can understand that definately, but why dont you give it a chance, when i turned 20 my insurance for my 182 dropped significantly, actually leading me to being able to afford one, it is definately worth being patient, you never know if you make the move too soon you might make a mistake then thats possibly 9k down the swanny

depends what you're after mate.

I've gone from a 172 cup to an audi tt 225 recently and love it.

Everyone seems to think its a sports car (when in reality, it's a coupe), great build quality being an Audi, the interior is stunning, and it's very easy to get more power out of it.

Just another option

Focus rs would be hard pushed for 8k ish. My mate has one and they're alright, poor interior though.

Keep thinking 20v but not in 4 cylinders.......think 5. Audi S2's are that money and with a few cheap mods will piss all over even the hotest of Cupras. Spend a little cash on one and you'll be seeing 500bhp. Spend a wedge and you'll be waving good bye to most of the hottest evo's and scoobies as 700+bhp is not unheard of. Front wheel drive vs Four wheel drive with LSD's......your desicion

well the best coillies are in the region of ast's and h and r's but they are pricey, it depends what sort of driving you do? if it is fast road and maybe some track days, then the h and r's. But thats another thing, get your car onto a track and i will guarentee (sp) you will fall in love with it again, when your keeping up with more powerful possibly turbo'd cars through the twisties
