Nitrox Hot Shot

  Evo 6, E92 320d
Was in halfords on sunday getting oil when i noticed the fuel additives/ system cleaners. Picked up a bottle of Nitrox Hot Shot for £7.99 iirc just to see whether they work or not. Put it all in the fuel tank and had the engine running a while, then took the car to work today and although its not had chance to get fully through the system yet i can feel a difference. Get a bit more pull throughout the rev range and engine sounds smoother.

Boasts to regain 10% of lost horsepower and clean the whole fuel system, whilst leaving a prective lube coat on moving parts.
Another hundred miles or so and ill add to this and let you know if things improve.

Can be risky on Older Engines... I've read it could remove old deposits that may be sealing small holes etc.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Ive used that a few times on the vee ( the Acid yellow one) gives you an initial higher detonation & better acceleration- but gradually wears off-

Drive down to allington depot- Stick in the 107 RON tescos fuel & nitrox then drive your car-
Ferrari for the day.....

hot-shot is just 50% methanol. I used a bottle of it a week before melting 2 pistons on my first 205 gti engine. It was fast as hell for that week

Just done a wiki :D very proud of myself (wood alcohol) Got to be cheaper than that NOS stuff to raise octane no?

Completely true.

If you're going to run 100 plus RON you need a remap.

Hell, 98 RON and plus need a remap.

even then it wont really be worth it in most NA road cars.

your facts are a bit arse about face there fella, its the other way round.

for example. 100 octane fuel dosn't need a remap, but a remap (depending how its setup) may need the 100 octane fuel.

ie you pick what fuel you want to run the car on, then you map it to suit, the octane rating is the resistance to detonation so if you were mapping the car to run 100 you may be able to advance the timing 4/5 degrees further without hearing any det than you could on 98, which will gain bhp and torque..

if the cars mapped to run 98, you could put 1000000000000000000000 octane in it and it wouldnt make piss all difference, as its still only mapped at a certain ignition curve and it has no way of sensing what octane its running in order to advance the timing

Right, been in the car over a week now and all round it feels a little looser, it feels like it revs a bit free-er now.
!BUT!
Over the past couple of days i've noticed the engine seems a bit tappy top end, i'm guessing it is due to the hotshot cleaning the gunk away which acted as a noise reducer:(. Will see how things go.

can the standard ecu be remapped to run 100ron fuel effectivly then? or are we talking omex etcs?

go to the local airport and buy 130ron jet fuel, just dont say its for the car because you arent paying taxes on it. just for the jet plane u have at home......

yes it can, speak to somebody like paul from rs tuning.

you will gain a bit of torque and a few bhp as ignition can be advanced a tad without hearing det.

power engineering thurrock (now torque of the devil) have done a few tests using all the readily available "off the shelf fuels" advancing timing as far as they could on each without hearing det.

there was a 10bhp difference between bottom of the range tesco fuel and bp ultimate

all tests done on a standard focus st.

the turbo will help with hp advances with the focus though wouldnt it? may have to investigate this more

well yes, but its the same story again, too much boost = too high a final compression ratio = det...

you'll still see gains.

theres some gains to be had in lpg and especially ethanol
