No ABS + Ice + Curb + Bollard FTL

  M2 Competition
Lol at some of the no-abs haters.

Tis difficult driving a cup in this weather mate, you dont realise how much of a difference the traction, esp, abs make.

Ended up very sideways on a roundabout the other morning without trying, catches you by surprise at times!

ABS would have made a difference if it was wet.. but on ice no, nothing is going to magic your tires more grip..

TBH ABS is crap and i dislike it, just thought it might have helped a bit so i could stear round the bollards LOL

Ill take the risk over the winter for the Joy of No ABS on a nice summer Track day ;)

Watch out for the steering wheel wobbling mate.

Might not happen straight away but in time it could get real bad. Take the car for a proper drive, high revs through the gears and see if it starts to wobble.

Thats the plan tonight, Off for a sensable jaunt up the A41 (Nice and straight and no Chicains so I should be safe)

I'm glad mine has ABS, but overall it is a pain. In the wet of course it's nice to have in an emergency, but it's a major fail on snow & ice, not to mention spoiling the fun when pushing hard on dry tarmac as it doesn't allow enough tyre slip, and pretty much reduces the maximum potential braking performance right on the limit.

Renaultsport Clio with ABS vs. snow & ice = FAIL. With or without ABS, it sounds to me like your only hope would have been to throw an anchor out the window TBH :(

Noooooo, could have been worse though mate tbh! Unlucky!

Lol @ the ABS police coming out as soon as they hear a cup takes a knock!

ABS caused me and the 1.2 to one-eighty in the road today (at about 10mph), feels bloody awful on ice, didnt feel in control of the car at all. The old old Micra, that had no power steering or abs was great fun to drive on ice - as I was fully in control.

Granted ABS has it's benefits, especially when braking harshly on wet/dry road, but I wish it could be turned off!

It would be nice if it was able to allow some tyre slip when the ESP is switched off, if that's possible which I'm sure it is. I'd never want to be unlucky enough to have my 'emergency' when it's switched off :D

Many don't realise that maximum braking performance is achieved when the tyre is actually slipping slightly along the tarmac, by a small percentage, but the wheel still turning. ABS, in the Clio at least, doesn't allow any slip at all in my experience, which whilst fine in the dry at 95%, is probably the reason it's such a fucker on snow & ice :)

Unlucky mate. It was awful on the roads today I was on my way to college this morning and I was being rediculously careful. Untill I hit the main roads it was awful, ABS way crap tbh it just kicked in as soon as you dabbed then brakes. I just drove realy slow and used engine braking as much as possible.
