No boom boom boom

  Clio v6

What would be the best set up to get the best out of classical music?

Also. I know there are gadgets to detect mobile phones in buildings, but is there anything to dectect and turn off these boom boom boys coming down your street?. Its no fun when you have just spent hours getting a very fretful baby to sleep then these guys shake the whole house, and it all starts over again. ( new parents beware )

Are you thinking some sort of Red Dwarf style electrical pulse to knock our their car battery? :D

For classical music I couldnt recommend in-car brands as Im crap with car audio (Focal get a good rep? heh) but..

Youll want to pay a lot of attention to speaker placement, and find the most "honest" speakers you can - its all about staging/realism.. go to the expense of having it set-up somewhere quality if you want the best possible sound..

To get the most out of classical music you want as near perfect a stereo image as you can get.. tricky when you sit on one side of the car!!

You also say no boom-boom-boom, but dont write off a small (10"?) sub as an option.. less boom, more tight lows to complete the picture.

Thats great advice. Thanks riplash.

Can anyone recommend "having it set-up somewhere quality" near Southend?

Thanks again.

PS.

Where it wont be ragged round the streets for a week?

Id be looking a decent set of components up front, good co-axials for the rear and a sub to cover the full range of frequencies.

Sound setup is very much a personal thing, youd need to find somewhere that would work with you when setting it up.

yea like i just sed to sum other bloke, get components and get a sub with a built in amp!

that way u have the low, mid and high range frequences!

Definately.

Needle in a haystack though.

I can 100% say avoid Decibels (Billericay) like the plague..

Are we missing the point, are you looking for some sort of Electromagnetic Pulse generator to knock johnny boom before he gets near the house and wakes a sleeping child? You could install either said pulse generator, or in the dead of night, install raiseable spikes at the entrance to your street that you can raise at the slightest distubance in the low end frequencies (=<50htz)surrounding your house

Trouble is it would knock out anything that wasnt shielded from emps.

Could cause an issue.

Best thing to do would be to have a small fm transmitter outside your house, transmitting silence on all stations.

Youd be buggered if they were using a tape/cd though.

Have you thought about double glazing?

Get the best...fit Everest.

After all if you couldnt hear a helicopter landing outside...

As for sound the guys are right, get components front, co-ax rear and a sub & amp. You need the bass for classical or you wont hear half the string section.

1)You own a v6 right? Trade it in, Buy a Warrior flat bed and fit it out with a huge system in the bed, im talking 9x 18s sub for some real nose bleed low end and follow them home and just let rip at 2am.

2)Get a supersprint system and sit outside his house and rev the nuts out of the car and burn out, again at 2am.

3)Stop them in the street and advise them on the error of their ways

What are the dimensions of the boot in the Vee? Ive got a nice compant Macaudio powered dual sub system and its tiny and provides just enough bass in the car without interfering with others.

Tomaso Albinoni, Johann Pachelbel, Georg Telemann, and Henry Purcell. (and a wee bit of hardcore Shirley Bassey too ) You will certainly notice me coming lol

surely a set of 3 way components in the front with a good quality sub, maybee a JL w7 the local audio shop did an install on some blokes farrari and he had a W7 with a custom made genisis amp rack with like 2 amps in 1 case, 1 was a mono block for the sub and the other was for the 3 ways and powered the crossovers activly.... he wanted it for classical and rock i think, but mainly classical i got to hear it and it was propper loud, dont bother with any rear fill as when u go to watch a classical concert you dont have 3 blokes on a trumpet behind u do u... its all coming blasting from infront of you...

Bloody hell the farraris ice sounds like mine, except I have a W6 not a W7, everything else the same.

New high tech ear defenders use the technique of firing out the exact opposite sound waves to counter act the sound, not sure if you can buy a set big enough to go round a house those.

as for the noise thing, sony and bose sell some headphones that bloke out exterior noise, so i.e u can have them on with music and you cant hear a thing outside, ive got some bose ones, use them on a plan and dont hear any of the noise (planes give me the biggest headache when im on them) get some for yourself and the kids and then they wont here anything lol, can get some ear defenders that are the same also... get them from gun shops....

Personally I wouldnt bother with the rear speakers, for sound staging you want the sound to come from in front of you, any rear speakers will just pull the sound away and detract from the full picture.

In my last car I had very much a quality setup, Alpine 9815 controlling Dynaudio 240s powered by a Genesis Stereo 100, these speakers offer a very neutral sound, basically what the music sounds like coming from the speakers is what it sounded like originally! For bass I had a Diamond TDX 12 powered by a Genesis Dualmono Extreme, the bass from this is simply incredible, so powerfull yet so so refined, almost Bentley like in a way!

I wouldnt hesitate to recomend a system such as that although of course there is a downside, the price! And the size of the box for the Diamond, hence why I am currently selling mine as I aint sticking that in the back of the 182!

If your going to do that disconnect the rears. I was told to leave the rears alone and i fitted all my kit and left the factory rears in. Big mistake, they dragged the whole thing down.

A nice pair of Infinity co-axials in the rear, the sound faded to the front a little and it was much improved. The rears just add a little depth and reinforce the sound. Set properly you shouldnt be aware of them unless you turn em off and then the sound seems a bit weaker.
