No cruise control but limiter works ok....

  RB 182 FF
Hi guys I've had an ESP serv light randomly appearing on my 182 so after reading up I bought a replacement genuine Renault 182 brake switch and sure enough this has fixed the issue...

However I now have no cruise control, it was intermittently working for a good 12 months but now not working at all... the green cruise light appears but that's it... I've also had a flickering fog light symbol for a while when braking but that seems to have cleared up now as well...

Any help is really appreciated as these issues irritate me.....:tired:

Cheers, Gaz.

That will be corroded connections on the rear light cluster, which will also stop the cruse control from working.
Just had mine fixed and suspect this was the issue. Also flickered when indicating left.

Originally thought it was a slight misfire stopping the cruise from working but I confirmed today (EML was on) that the EML being on will not stop the cruise from working.

However, that was both cruise and the limiter. The fact the cruise has suddenly stopped working but the limiter still works in this case might suggest something to do with the only thing that's changed, the brake pedal switch? These can be clicked into different positions can they not?

Thanks Flebay! I've checked the rear lights previously for the fog symbol flickering and couldn't see any corrosion, so not sure what to do...

@Patrick Bateman I've adjusted the brake switch to come on just after a bit of pressure so that's all good, I think maybe flebay is on to something about the rear lights... I appreciate all the suggestions though, I'll find the answer soon I hope!!

When I checked my rear light connections there was some corrosion but nothing that'd make me think it'd be enough to cause an issue.

Might be worth getting it to someone who really knows these cars. I've had the car since 2014 and only just got working cruise control because I'd kept putting off taking it to a specialist and other mechanics weren't as in depth past checking the typical switches.

Yeah that might have to be an option @Patrick Bateman if I can't resolve it...! I'm going to take out the rear lights again and get some contact cleaner in the sockets and see what happens... I always read everything I can find before posting here but this one has me stumped at the moment...!

You need to make sure there tight on the pins using a small flat head screw driver to close the gap.

How do you sort out an earth problem on the rear lights @flebay ? Is it the same by closing the pins? I recall my cruise cutting out when indicating as well sometimes...

  dan's cast offs.
pop the little cover off the plug and nip them up, 99% of the time it's only the black that actually needs doing.

Yeah the black rear light connectors @imprezaworks , I never noticed the little flap that clips outward until it was suggested and pushed all the metal prongs back out... It seems to have worked, for a fair while I had an intermittent fog light flicker on the dash so I'm guessing this messed up the cruise as well....
