I have a 172, 2002 clio. Pulling away from a junction, not speeding or anything out of the ordinary I hear a massive bang and the cabin fills with smoke.
The passenger side airbag had deployed. They're was no impact from anywhere. I've looked on the exterior and no sign of stones or impact of any kind.
Luckily no one was in the seat at the same time.
Does anyone experienced this before?
What are the requirements for it to 'arm'? Eg, has the belt got to be clipped in. Pressure from a person in the seat? Or will this airbag deploy from impact on this side regardless?
My local Renault dealer couldn't answer without looking at the vehicle (and probably charging me an arm and a leg for the privilege)
For the time being the car is off the road and I've pulled the fuse out for the other airbags, just in case.
Thanks all.
