No rear suspension springs ? ! ?

Just been having a look at my car and i have noticed that there are no rear suspension springs on the rear. Is this meant to be? i am getting worried now i have bought a dangerous car :S

The springs are on the rear beam, not on the shocks.

Look behind both rear wheels.

You will see the springs.

facepalm, i know it may not be an obvious thing, but sticking your head even remotely under the car would reveal the springs!

Thank you I am a real newbie when it comes to cars. My last clio was a nightmare so I'm always worried that i have bought another bad car.
