No recall by Renault on Clio bonnets!

I've been out and about today (had a tour of the Westfield factory:cool:) and on the way down on the M6/M5 we went past a Mk2 Ph2 (non RS) which had obviously suffered a failure - bonnet up on the windscreen and bent to f**k.

By the time we'd spotted it, we were well past, so couldn't stop and help.

I think it's enough to say that after seeing the damage (not to mention risk if that happens on a busy motorway!!!), I'll be checking the 182 in the morning...

If it was any one here, hope the damage isn't too bad...

Does the alarm not chirp when you lock it if the bonnet is not closed properly already on the 172/182 ? Must be a simple way of linking a light on the dash onto the bonnet alarm pin.

Yeah thats the thing thought Rich, they're shutting all the way, the bit that you pull - under the bonnet, is jamming forward for all it takes is a knock and the spring bit releases (as if you pulled the bonnet) and it flys up. The bit you have under the bonnet is there as an emergency thing kinda, incase say a passenger pulls the lever.

Thats the way I was informed the whole design is shite, clogs up with crap
