No reverse

Just went to back into my drive and couldnt select reverse. Hope fully its not to major but to dark to look now, any one had this happen before?

mines starting to crunch into reverse and first gear can be a little sticky sometimes, local mechanic friend said clutch is worn.

I can select all gears except reverse, and from in the car the lift cable seems to be ok.
