Had one and loved it!
Same driver?! Think youll find they are different.Quote: Originally posted by bsimmer3000 on 24 June 2004
i think you will find that the top gear test are a good idication of how good a car handles and how well it performes. the reason for this is they are all tested on the same track with the same driver every time. you cant get more consistant tests anywhere.
The Cup is 1021kg, without aircon and is 89kg lighter than a mk2 172 at 1110kg, climate control adds 25kg to a Cup, these are all Renalt figures!Quote: Originally posted by brazo on 24 June 2004
AS we are being pedantic a cup (less air con) is 1011kg (EVO magazine) giving it 168 bhp per ton!
Bingo...Quote: Originally posted by jonnyboy on 24 June 2004
theres way to much figure quoting going on in this thread. you cant judge a car just on its power output. a 106 gti is almost no different to a 172 in terms of real world performance
Yeah, the 106 does lack low down grunt, but is very strong from 5000rpm and really comes on cam strong!Quote: Originally posted by petee on 24 June 2004
P 106 lack torque!! I drove my Vts after my 172 and god nothing when pulling out of courner at low revs!
Very different to drive, the power delivery is smooth and theres more low end torque than most people think (http://members.lycos.co.uk/pug306rallye/CTR/RR%20Days/Rich_D_CTR_RR_Torque_Graph_01.jpghttp://members.lycos.co.uk/pug306rallye/CTR/RR%20Days/Rich_D_CTR_RR_Torque_Graph_01.jpg), the gearing is also very close so it doesnt need to be revved stupid all the time and you can driver it "normally" on a daily basis.Quote: Originally posted by petee on 24 June 2004
