Nobbly Bit on underside of Wing mirrors

Specifically on the passenger side...

Right under the wing mirror is a little nobbly thing.....what the heck is it? Im guessing its a thermometer....but any help??

its the exterior temp sensor for the temp reading on the radio display.

Yeah, always thought you could test it by heating it up with a hair dryer!
