Noise after changing rear discs

  Clio 182
I changed the rear discs on my 54 182 today, and now there is a metal on metal noise when going round corners. I inspected it after a test run and I sounds like the rear disc Is making contact with the hub (?) at a certain point on the rotation. When I removed the old discs there wasn't any spacers fitted, I just replaced them exactly as they came off. The locking nut is torqued correctly. Any ideas anyone? Can't seem to find any info about needing spacers from any parts dealers. Thanks.

You need the spacers i bet they are/was stuck to the back of the old disc! Did you torque the nuts up to 175nm?

There wasn't a washer with the discs only the locking nut and dust cap. There was no washer fitted on the old discs either otherwise I would have used them. Do you have to get the washer separately? Can't seem to find anything from ECP where I got the discs.

OEM discs do not come with spacers. You are supposed to re-use them but inevitably over the years non-specialist garages or DIYers don't realise this and the spacer gets lost.

Plenty of info on the forum if you do a search inc. price (think it's £14 for the pair), Renault part number, fitting orientation etc.

As the shaft has an ever so slight radius on the hub end when the spacer isn't fitted it doesn't clear this and can be very difficult to get off without ruining your new bearings. Likewise the noise is usually associated with the toothed ABS wheel munch on the ABS sensor, so worst case scenario be prepared for new ABS ring/sensor as well.

Are the ECP genuine items? Plenty of stories of pattern-part rear bearings only lasting a few months. Pair of OEM discs, bearings, pads and ABS toothed wheel is around £100 from Renault Wolverhampton with the club discount (think that requires the £12 club membership to see the contact details/get the discount?)

Thanks for the help guys. Kicking myself as I only went to ECP because the Renault part dept was shut by the time I got down there today. The discs I brought were Pagid, I thought they were a decent make. Hope I can get the discs back off without knackering the bearing.

The Ecp pagid ones are good discs I'm using them on the back atm but had a massive grinding issue I'll tell u now stop driving it!!! The abs teeth are grinding on the abs sensor and the spider wen bit of the disc is grinding on the hub keep driving and it'll shear the stub axle off!! U need to make a spacer as said I managed to make one up sand it's now perfect.... But stupidly u wouldn't know u needed one as it dosent state anywhere about it ... Bravo Renault lol I think untill u make the mistake u don't learn u needed one lol good times :)

So, I had chance to have a look at the problem today. As suspected the spacer was missing, fitted the new ones (thanks again to G 172 for the quick service) and jobs a goodun. Luckily I hadn't driven far without the spacer so there wasn't any damage to the abs ring or the bearing. Whine free driving here I come! :D
