noise when accelerating

hi guys,
just wondered if anyone's got any idea what my noise might be.
when i floor it i get a kinda raspy noise from about 2.5k - 3k onwards. it sounds like something rattling. it only does it when accelarating, if i lift off it stops. doesn't matter what gear its in.
i'm guessing exhaust or something to do with engine mounts or both.
anyone had anything similar.
if i knew what the problem was i could get my machanic mate to sort it. bit reluctant to take it to renault after reading the horror stories on here.


any ideas?

I had simular problem with my 172 cup, turned out to be a loose exhaust guard.

yeah it could be that. guess i'll have to get it in the air for a look.
