noisy noisy exhuast

word up people,

Just wondered if it was normal for the exhaust on a 172 mk1 to start making tinking sounds and pinging sounds when you park the car up and get out. mine does if for a long time sometimes and if ive just thrashed it then the pings and tings are really loud for a long time. I know its probably the metal cooling down and flexing back but its really loud, loudest car ive heard it on ever.

Its the exhaust itself cooling down and not the heatshields. These noises disappeared completely when I fitted the Magnex. My mates Cup is also quiet now on cool down with a K-Tec fitted (feckin loud at other times!). Reckon the standard exhaust is noisy on cool down due to it being a one-piece jobby.

Mine always ticks and pings after driving and so did the the one I test drove

my dads primera SRi does the same, but it is normal.
