None sport acceleration times.,

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
Just had the DCI put back to standard (feels awful!!). On it's last journey with tripple figure power I thought I'd capture the memories, and stuck my phone to the window and took almost every acceleration video I could think of.

But it got me thinking, it had a pretty good kick for a french s**t box, hit any speed it could pretty easily, and on the same piece of road it can hit 90 on at the moment, it could do 110 so you can imagine the lack of grunt it has now.

Anyway, whenever people post dci stats, they always say 5th gear is faster than a 182's 5th gear. It probably is, but my wondering is how much faster than the 1.6 it is.

This is it's strong point imo.

Bottom of 3rd to nearly top of 4th.

0-100 is here. (just lol) Just under 30 seconds for anyone that dozes off.

My 1.6 in standard in terms on engine mods, it moves fine, to 60 about 9.5 secs. What mods did you have? and is it a dci100?

Having sat on the ar*e of a 1.6 16v Suzuki Swift from zero to 80 (rated @ 8.9 to 60 and 120mph+), I'd say a re-mapped dCi 80 (now 110 & 180lb/ft) is easily on a par with a 1.6 16V Clio (110 and 110lb/ft)

in 5th it WILL match a 182 from 50-90mph (I've proved it several times) simply because the torque in top at those speeds is much higher in the dCi and consequently I'd bet my life savings that it would murder a 1.6

p.s. for the record a re-mapped 80 is also quicker than a 100 by some margin (only 96bhp and 150lb/ft out of the factory)

No question my dci 65 won't let a 1.4 16V get far ahead so a 1.6 on a car with 50% more power should be easy.

^ lol

Yeh remapped 80.

I don't batter my gearbox too much so it's just under 10s to 60.

In a straight line drag vs a similar power car it would be close. 1st gives you a good off the line start as there's enough torque to launch it but not enough to spin the wheels a lot.

2nd is pretty pathetic really, only gives you 15 useful mph over 1st. 3rd is great for a 1.5, 4th still sees off any van philmots:clown: and 5th is just for economy, though if the road is long and straight you can overtake comfortably with it.

Id like a go :D

Sprinter runs (standard) 184 hp and i'd guess a good 400 lb/ft:cool:

Aye but they weight a hell of a lot more than a car. The dci is about 980kg according to parkers.

Not a bad little car, I still stand by my "best none sport clio" statement. Much faster than a 1.6 when remapped, on par when standard. In the stakes of things that's still very slow though..

I got a 10.08s at fcs this year. That was with my tools in my boot, and competition Alpasonik sub and amp set up,lol. The situation got the better of me, i never planned to go down the strip, hence my car full of crap. I was impressed with the time considering it beat quite a few guys who had stripped there cars out. Im definately gona run it again with my install+back seats out, that must be worth 1.5-2secs???

0-60 time only tells half the story with diesels, as we know. 3rd gear is wher all the fun is ;0)

lol the Clio is still slow with a remap, for a 1.5 it's alright I guess. Next diesel I have will either be the twin turbo 2 litre or normal 3 litre BMW. Too slow all round otherwise.

I know they get stick on here, but ive got a tunit. Ive had it on 3 rolling roads, and they average out at 121.1bhp at the wheels, which im happy with. The cars a great compramise, its very nippy, £50 tax+50+mpg.

The most surprising car ive been in recently is my cousins mk5 2.0 tdi golf 140. Hes just had it remapped, and the rolling road showed 191.4 bhp. Even with his 19s, it easily spins in 3rd. A very very nippy car!

I will give anyone with a DCi65 a race against my 1.4 16v.

^ Details ?

I'll take a blind guess that it's a mk1 not 2.

Mk2 Ph2. Prospeed with de-cat and matched inlets. Pulls harder in 2nd and 3rd than the smoker.

No bad. All I'll say is what I know. Against a 1.6 16v (03) when standard power, 1st my car had the advantage, 2nd and 3rd were identical, 4th and the 1.6 started to get away, 5th and it walked away (top end).

Remapped, I would have to see it first hand to believe the 1.6 would have a chance.
