Noob AV question

Going to use the old TV as a monitor for the laptop, by default Ive always used HDMI before when I've needed to.

But there's S-Video and VGA options and I don't need the audio from the TV any more.

So, which is better. HDMI, VGA or S-Video

If that laptop has HDMI out, use HDMI. It'll transfer sound and video and do so in proper digital format.
