Noob - Looking at a Clio 182 this weekend...

Afternoon all,

I love my hot hatches and currently have a 306 and 205 GTi, I'm looking at adding to the collection by getting a Clio 182 'full fat' and I'm off to look at one this weekend. I have seen the buyers guide and had a good read through it and I was just wondering if there is anything else I need to look out for when looking at a 182? If all goes well I shall have pictures up this weekend of my new purchase!

I'm sure you've read/heard about them but the main thing would be check if its had the cambelt changed recently and by a reputable garage with correct timing tools etc, you want receipts to prove.

That's the main expense really with these cars. If it hasn't been done recently could be a bargaining tool as its a few £££ job. One of the Traders on here will be able to sort it if need be, if you become a member you will be able check the Traders section for the closest to you.

Other than that, usual with buying a car, tyres, brakes, exhaust. It may seem a good deal but need 4 tyres soon for example ....

Cheers I had heard that most by now will have aftermarket backbox as the factory one is heavy and a bit crap as it rots. As long as it's not too loud it won't bother me!

Think G 172's covered the main bits.

Just have a good look round the body work and paint as well

Obviously there might be a few age related marks but you don't want any dents/scratches that have been touched up poorly.

Aaaah the 205! Hope its the proper one!! (1.9) Ive had 6! Then thought it was time to change, deffo getting another!

No it's the 1.6 (the one with the good gearbox ;-) but it's a minter!

Can't beat a minter! I had the 1.6 gearbox put into the 1.9, best of both worlds!!:-0
