Normal tick over speed for 172?

What speed should tick over be (engine warm), as standard?
Mine seems a bit high (~1200rpm).

thought they were around 800ish standard once warm.
I think the RS tuner remap raises it too around 1000
Even my cam'd car doesnt idle that high! mines around 1050 / 1150ish.
Have you checked for any vacuum leaks etc?
Oh is it a ph1 or ph2?

It's a ph2. I've only just got the car so not had a chance to check much yet..

Usually 1200rpm when cold , when warmed up it idles at 700rpm .

Usually fairly lumpily (is that a word?) around 7-800rpm.

Could be the thermostats buggered if its staying at 1200rpm, as i think they stay on the cold map when the thermostats broken?
Does the temp needle not go to the middle when fully warm?
Also you tried ragging it when warm? as if the limiter kicks in at 6,800 i'd say your thermostat needs changing.

Turns out it was due to bad plugs/leads that eventually started causing a misfire.

Now with new plugs and leads it idles at about 950rpm (although this is still higher than some of those posts above have suggested it should be).
