Thought i would throw up a Progress Thread about my VTS.
I have been a Member on here for a while, but mostly use Sax-P
And i am an Apprentice Mechanic for Renault in Dundee
This is my Second Saxo , i had a Posi Blue VTR before.
In The Beginning
It all came about after i sold my VTR in October Last Year, the main aim was to go jap either a Honda Civic Type R or an Integra Type R. Being on Apprentice Wages i just could not be able to run the car let alone modify it.
The Old VTR that some of you may remember
So i decided to bite the bullet and get either a 106 GTI or a VTS.
Before i even got to view any GTI's they had either broken down or were absolute sheds.
And so it was time to hunt for a Spaxo.
One morning before work i spied a T Reg mk1 VTS in Silver with 2 Owners and full Service history for £1950. I phoned up about it first thing and low and behold i was the proud owner of a mint mk1 VTS for £1700.
A couple of pics beside my mates Quicksilver:-
On its Lonesome:-
The Modding Begins
• First Thing's First Griffiths Quickshift
•Work in Progress In my Mates Workshop:-
•French Car Specialists
• The Next Major Modification was to lower the suspension, My Old VTR was very low and decided that i would go along the same route with 60mm Springs and the Torsion Bar to Match:-
Whats that saying again?
"If it Doesnt Scuff its not low Enough"
Just to put things into perspective
In my defence i did want it low but not as 'hooped' as this.
I had my toolbox in the boot going to work the morning after and the tyres melted the inner arches :n: Not Good!!!.
•The First Engine Modification was a Raceland Induction Kit, from a member on Sax- P
•Smoked Angel Eyes
•De-Wipered
My Friend invited me up to wash the cars and have a little mini photoshoot.
I headed down to Crail for my First Shot of the Quarter Mile, although when we got there i was dissapointed to find that it was lashing with rain. This didnt stop me and so gave it my best.
• Couple of Videos
1 of them has no sound for some unknown reason

And so the Project Takes a Dramatic Turn in the Form of Wheel Choice
Staying with the OEM look, the time had came where i had to choose what colour to put the 'S' Wheels, i wanted to be different instead of having the usual black or anthracite, and my original plan was to go white, but as with my previous saxo i had already had white wheels. So the next choice was Gold but it wasn't 'Different' enough.
• The Choice was made
• My Private Plate Fitted
And So From One Extreme to Another
• The Stripping Begins
The Day before my second crail session i decided to strip out the back seats and sound proofing
My m8 and i travelled down to crail just after lunch time to hit the strip once again. My first run i managed to anihalate the EK9 with a 16.2 and by the end of the day i managed a best time of 15.7, which i was very pleased about to add to my joy my mate could only manage a best time of 15.7 also in his ek9. But to be fair it was his first time on the strip and so he wil take a bit of getting used to.
• Another Little Video (Note the Popping and Banging of my Exhaust when i change gear)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLxw54mQCao
Ive decided i want to keep the stripped track look but not too keen on the bare floor so i tidied it up a bit by laying some acoustic material as a sort of carpet.
Thanks for reading my progress thread.
Comments and Criticism welcome
