Golf GTD Mk7
So to cut a long story short. I got the belts changed as they were due (not saying who did it ). Drove the car away and all seemed fine. Ran well, felt the same as when I left it.
Got in it the day after to nip the the gym, and on the way back it started getting VERY noisey. I instantly thought Dephaser had gone, so I drove to the guy, and by this time the noise was really bad (sounded like a diesel tractor running on 1 cylinder). It would barely run, trying to stall on itself. Noise was coming from the inlet cams, so dephaser seemed the obvious choice. He checked the oil pressure also as I've got a cooler fitted (did a full day at Oulton with this, and it was fine), and pressure seemed ok. Oil was brand new the day I ran at Oulton also.
He took it back, changed the dephaser, belt etc, and its still bad. He's thinks tappets, but why would these go within the space of 10miles after the initial belt change? Furthermore, why would the oil cooler make this an issue? He's going to remove the cooler, and see if it make a difference, then if not, it's off with the rocker
Thoughts?
