Not starting.... URGENT.

Try making a new temporary earth from the tank to negative battery terminal. If it still doesnt start you know you can rule that out. But if fuels getting there, air isnt usually an issue then its gotta be a spark. Take a plug out, hold it with insulated pliers against the head and get someone to turn the engine over, make sure you're away from the plug hole in the head cause if it does spark you could end up with an engine fire.

Thats well wierd! Hmmm, so you've got to do all that if you wanna change the plugs? Get a set of torx bits from halfords, think theyre about £5 for a set.

Why on earth don't you get it seen to by a technition??

A car not starting isn't a very helpful car and obviously needs seeing to, as you can't even diagnose the problem yourself, would you really be confident trying to fix it ??

He may aswell use the advice here before paying a technician £40 per hour to sort it.

Andy Clio - Can you get hold of a haynes manual for your car? The trouble shooting section is usually pretty good

Yeah i have a haynes manual, it doesn't say much about it tbh.

2moro i am going to get a new battery and sparkplugs, if i get sparks my suspision will be on the fuel pump being dead!

If i dont get sparks i'm gonna be on the lookout for coils, anyone know the part number of the coils for ma clio? (1999 1.6 16v K4M)

hey,

is ur car trying to turn over about 4 times then dying out?
you'll find its the immobiliser or it can be the code aerial inside of the key barrel i'v had the same problem when i did my conversion and it happened again it can be numerous things either the key has lost its code so try using your spare key if that doesnt work it could well be the code aerial that picks up the code from the key once its in close proximity (inside the barrel) either of these would try to start the car then cut it out,

you may find the first time you try it almost starts then repeat attempts dont get as close to turning over

hope it helps

My car died last week, real random, the starter engaged, the engine shook, no go... 2 rac guys in 3 days, both said tdc sensor. took it to my garage, and with the aid of a diagnostics box and credit to lemonobby1, one of the relays was knakered. there in a box by your battery. look like big black fuses. try swopping them. i did and it fires first time now. new relay is something like 15 quid.

Car is sorted, faulty fuel relay... Doh. cos me £90 when if i knew what it was i could have taken one from the scrappys for nothin! lol

  Mercedes AMG GLE 53
Yes but you were never going to find out what is was were you.
At least its fixed now. Anyway £90 aint bad for diagnosis, labour and a new relay.
