Number Plate Light

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum....

I got pulled last night by the fuzz...not because of my bald tyres - just ordered new ones today, but because of my number plate light wasn't working at the back. He was nice as pie and just told me change my bulb and sent me on my way.

Had a look this morning at the bulb and its fine! No idea why its not working, all the wires and conections are in tact so if anyone can help me on here it would be much appreciated. Don't fancy going to Renault and getting mugged off!

I had to change my number plate light adapter because of corrosion.. they're cheap... i remember it was £7 or something like that....

mine failed mot becuase of that.

take it all apart, take bulb out, get a screwdriver and scratch all the green s**t away,

take the wire out of the conenctor, clean all that out with a screwdriver 2, the pins and stuff, put back together, shud be fine.

there was a bit of green powder that came out when i got annoyed and banged it a few times, is that the corrosion your talking about?

the green powder is corrosion my friend. so get a new one.

If you feel like being pikey, just get a very very small flat-head screwdriver and scratch the connectors to take the corrosion off

its copper oxide, u sumtimes see churches have green roofs, thats the same thing.

yeah ill give the screwdriver idea a go, but if that fails, ill go buy one, cant be that expensive.

I know this is another topic alltogether, but im cheeky. If i get pulled by the police and they tried to rape me for my tyres (they are that bad), if i turn around and say ive ordered some and can prove it, can they do anything?

Well its the police, so im guessing they will just say that u shouldn't be driving it then.

Mines really hooped! just left it disconnected! will have to get a second hand piece of loom aswell!
