I had a long weekend at work, so thought 'f**k it let's go on a road trip'. It's something I've always wanted to do and have never been to any of the countries before.
I recruited a long-time friend of mine and got him insured for the duration (which he wasn't complaining about!) and we set off after I finished work at midnight on Thursday.
A few hours after I'd finished work in Manchester we were at the Eurotunnel in Folkstone. Parked up next to a fellow CS'er and went for a brew before boarding. Still don't know who it is but it had a sticker in the back!
(I was still figuring out how to use the Mrs' camera!).
Boarding the train at 6:20am. Still no sleep.
Tried getting some sleep for the half hour it took to get us there, but just ended up chatting instead. Before we knew it, we were there.
It was my turn to drive and we went straight down to Paris. Got flashed by a camera van and paid 19 Euros for a toll road, but possibly worth it once we got there. Paris isn't the best place I've driven around, and that's all I'm saying.
Some sights;
Didn't realise how tall the fecking thing was until I was this close;
I don't like heights, so only went up to the first bit.
Much needed cappucino after staying awake for over 24 hours.
So the next day we set off to the 'ring. As we approached, I didn't like what I was seeing :dapprove:
It had snowed overnight and the ring was closed today. We explored the area anyhow, some interesting sights!
Afterwards we sampled some German McDonald's;
...and explored Europe some more. We stayed in various different countries and had a look around. Woke up in Frankfurt and phoned the 'ring to check if they were open...
It was. Mint! Megane Trophy pulled up next to us and was watching us go around the 'ring... didn't join in though!
No photos of me on the 'ring (yet!) but managed to get 2 laps in before I realised it's not much fun in the wet! Still got 2 left on my card though as I plan on making another trip soon.
Afterwards, we went to Antwerp in Belgium;
Sampled a cracking steak;
...and said goodbye.
Found these two at the supermarket near Calais;
...and this getting drug checked at the entrance;
Cheeky mirror shot :rasp:
Saw Arnie on the way home;
...and that was that
Best long weekend I've ever spent off work.
