Occasion track day setup?

  172 Cup
I own a 172 cup an I have decided I want to use it for track days, Im on a kind of limited budget so here is what I propose to buy.

KTR FK coilover kit
Polly bushes all round
New disks and Carbone pads
Braided hoses

Anyone suggest anything else or think I should change anything? Are those coilovers rubbish? I dont have the spare cash at the moment to afford H&R's but would they do for the time being?

Thanx :)

I'd wait until you can afford H&R/KW/AST's. If you want them eventually, why not wait? I'd personally get the brakes/tyres done, do a few days then decide on suspension.

Hmm goid point about the suspension, typeing without thinking lol

Tyres would be 888 or something along those lines. Also do any companys manufacture fog light brake ducts I never use my front fogs and one is cracked any way so they can be ditched.

Do the brakes, take it out and see what you think of it. Unless you've done it as standard, you won't be able to guage the improvment that tyres etc make. Do some tuition, don't worry about the car too much to begin with.
I'd do somewhere like bedford for your first day, open and wide, easy to learn and nothing to hit.

As above save your money till you can afford some decent sus. MarkCup has done many a track day on the standard sus so it can't be that bad!

You can get the cup racer brake ducts from yozza but they're £150. Alternatively you can get some 50mm trumpets and a bit of caf pipe such as the kit that pipercross do.

u dont even need trumpets, just some CAF 100/114mm and some defelectors to direct the air over the calipers, thats what iv done.

CAF sits fine behind the fog surround

I was thinking of getting some tuition, I probably havent been on a track for about 4 years although before that every week for about 6 years I had been karting ktm 100's and aprilia 100's mucho fun! This is the reason for me wanting to do track days as I miss karting soo much, I assume tuition courses help with things like using weight transfer etc... I know how to string fairly good lines together already I just have no idea where to start looking for tuition.

Thanx for the info on ducts people I will look into caf stuff :)

is it going to be a pure track car? the title would suggest that its going to be on track occasionaly.
you can have a lot of fun on track with the standard setup. however... i would say brake setup and decent tyres are the first things to go for.

TBH, with your experience you shouldn't need too much tuition.
Long term, for a road/track car I'd want: Brakes (pads/discs/lines), seats (reclining buckets), coilovers, spare set of wheels/tyres, CG lock.

No it will be used on road aswell although not loads

if i was prepping mine for track i would get rid of any unnecessary weight, decent tyres, good brake setup, buckets, harnesses, track only (2118's on 888's)/road only wheels/tyres, then i would look at suspension. in that order.
sounds like you are pretty good at karting, shouldn't really need much tuition.

wouldnt bother with poly bush the suspension tbh.

if i was starting a fresh i would do....

spare set of wheels and tyres
tuition
brakes
seats
suspension

in that order.

If i was just occasionaly tracking a car that i used regualarly on the road, i would just have the spare wheels and spend money on driving it
