Octane boosters

Hi i was looking at the NOS high octane booster and it says it will boost by upto 3-4 RON, ontop of optimax it would be 100+, is there any performance benefits etc? what is the + and - side of things? thanks

If you have a 1.4 there is absolutely no point in using it all. The only cars to get any benifits from it are Japanese cars that are mapped for 100+ RON fuel.

Well i use nothing but Optimax purely because its cleaner than regular unleaded and Optimax is 98 RON, iirc Tescos are doing 100RON fuel

You can use Optimax if you want in your 1.4, but there will be no performance difference. Tescos have admitted their advertised 99 RON petrol is infact only 98 - see SN.

if you are going to use octane boosters id use millers octane booster, used @ santa pod, admitidly it didnt feel any faster but it certainly run smoother and economical,

There was another thread aboutthis a while back, no pint in runnign a higher octane fuel than your ecu is programmed to run, even to the point of running optimax in 1.2s etc cus they are designed to run on 97 ron.

Cleaner makes f**k all difference, sedaments sink to the bottem ofg the tank, and if anything is picked up thats what teh fuel filter is for, to filter the crap out

I run on 106RON. lol, no need on the small un-tuned engines, simple as!

Says it for me.

Check your manual and it will say run on 95RON.

the manual says fuel grade to 95 to 98 ron
