Current insurance is £960 a year.

The insurance on my Z3M will be £850 a year.

When i calledto change it over they said it'd cost me £200 to change.

Hows that work?

Admin fee is £14.80. I've change car on policy a lot with them.

I'm 5 months in so i can't really start again.

Thing is they won't listen to me when i tell them how much it should be. Saying i'm wrong even when i have the reference code for my quote.

I did. He got called a t**t and i put the phone down.

He told me they didn't insure 21 year olds on cars like that. I said well your website does....

I had this when I changed from the Exige to the TVR. Said something along the lines of quotes are based on new policies, and have no relevance to current ones. Which sounds like a heap of b****cks to me

Are you basing your assumption on a 5 month old quote???

Were both quotes supplied from the same COMPANY ???

If not then your current ins company may have wanted far more than you think to insure your new vehicle.....

Brokers deal with many companies, if all companies supplied the same quotes for each vehicle then we would have no need for brokers would we.....

Eg - My quote with elephant was 1000 for the exige in Jan, then changed in April, done a quote on the TVR and it was 900, but they charged me 600 to change.

Makes no sense.

Elephant are a broker....

Your current ins could be with company A, your new quote with company B, why would company A & B amalgamate to save you money ????

If your current policy is with company A, and you wish to swap vehicle, then its only company A that will be asked how much its going to cost....

Meanwhile company B will do a lower quote to attract NEW business....

In laymans terms...

You wish to go by public transport from say London to Glasgow....

The ticket supplier, (or broker), offers the two best deals

By Virgin Train its £100
By National Bus its £70

You decide to go by bus saving £30....You decide during your journey to switch to the train, but you can't use Virgin trains, (unless you give up your current ticket & lose money), you must now use National trains who's ticket price is £200.....Price difference = £130 + admin fees....

Never knew Elephant were a broker?

Maybe 'Broker' is a slightly exagerated term, they are an insurance company within their own right, that is owned by the Admiral Group I believe, I would assume they are underwritten from some other branch....

EDIT; I STAND CORRECTED, ELEPHANT ARE AN INSURANCE COMPANY.....

Going to get a quote from them now to see how cheap they really are

Both quotes are with Bell (part of the admiral group)

On doing two new quotes for my TT and Z3M they come to £950 and £803.

There is no way i'm paying £200 for a cheaper car to insure to take over my current policy.

  ITB'd 182...
Unsure why that is matey tbh...

I work for Admiral and i can honestly say that they are pretty cheap. Although, lots of people i know are insured with direct line ;)
