  Clio sport cup 172
Hi,

I have a 172 which im using for a charity endurance race around a very bumpy field, we have tried standard suspension which is too low and ktec coilovers raised as high as possible (with the hope of less bounce) but again still too low it scuffs the floor hard it has 15 inch wheels with some thick off road tyres on, Im after something to raise it fairly high and as cheaply as possible maybe suspension off a 4x4 that will fit? im open to ideas, just wondering if any guys on here do grass track or similar if they have any ideas.

tia.

  Twingo 133 Cup,
An old trick used by road rally boys is to make a wooden ring and put it in between the strut top and the body. You would obviously need to sort out some longer bolts. It's very primitive but it works you could possibly use old wheel spacers but have no clue how much space you have to play with.

You're gonna smash your CV's from the driveline angles if you're not careful, taller tyres are your best bet if you can fit even bigger in the arches.

Also be careful with aftermarket coilovers they often have less travel than OE stuff so they will drop you into a hole that the OE suspension would have had enough rebound travel to cope with - and then they blow through the compression travel as the chassis drops in right as the wheel hits the far edge of the dip to rise up again.
That's also a big reason just winding up coilovers as far as you can is a terrible idea. An offroad car needs a lot of droop travel, and you just removed it.

Skidpans, big tyres, plenty of travel, ride height is not so much of an issue in fields apart from the above issues.
