Oil Change = Engine Management Light?

Hi guys, I had a quick search, but to no avail :(

Basically, I carried out an oil change on my 182 last night. Aside from the problem with changing the oil filter (it was fastened so tightly during it's last change that a chain strap couldn't remove it, the only way I could get it off was with the old-fashioned screwdriver method) the change itself went fine.

I used Motul 5w/40 fully synth - bought from Opie Oils, so it's decent stuff.

However, this morning, I started the engine to go to work (I'd already ran the engine after changing it last night) I noticed the Engine Management light was on (right-hand side of the instrument panel) - no other warning light was on, and the car wasn't in Limp Mode. Any ideas why this might be? The light has only ever shown once in the 10 months I've owned it, about 3 days after I bought it, but it disappeared after I filled up with V-Power (I don't know why). Does anyone know why it'd do this, and if the light will disappear of it's own accord? Or am I going to have to organise a Diagnostic of some description?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Could be the post cat lambda sensor.

Doubt it's anything to do with the oil change, probably just coincidence.

Thanks mate, I did think it was a bit odd that it would come on after an oil change, I couldn't figure out why it'd do that. I haven't done anything else to the car, but I'll have to get it looked at by a fault reader/diag then :-/

If the sensor clears then the fault will disappear and the light will go off.

If the car is running fine then I wouldn't worry about it at the moment.

I'll leave it for a week or so then, like I said, there were no other lights, and there's no Limp Mode or anything (well, there might be, I've only gone to work, which is only 7 miles away, and the car isn't warm enough to really go above that!) so it might well be fine. My only other thoughts were that some oil spilled on to one of the sensors surrounding the oil filter when I smashed it to bits to get it off.

I'll see what happens - thanks guys.

I don't think so, I did have to beat the s**t out of the oil filter to get it off though. Where is that sensor in relation to the filter itself?
