oil for rsi

hi picking up an rsi next weekend and i noticed that the oil level dial said empty is there still a dipstick..plus what oil should i use its only done 41000 miles from new its a 97 model

first check the oil even though the dial says empty it might well not be i found that them breaking was a common fault on the RSi

not too sure mate but need to fix it on mine...

gotta go into a renault garage by me to ask them when i find out i will post it up on hee for you mate

Can't believe you bought a car without even checking the oil!
 
ALWAYS use the dipstick for oil, even on new cars gauges are often out, make sure its on a level surface too.

I'd use 5W40, its what they recommend for the valvers/williams

For the gauge there are a number of optiiosn, if it dont' move at all then check the connectiions to sensor/gauge, dont' forget it only reads for a few secs when you start the engine up and then returns to zero, after that chack sensor and gauge
